Questions that must be asked

Cade Remsburg

First off in reference to last week’s column, I would like to say that I am not George Constanza, and I do not refer to myself in the third person. However, I believe my editor got a hold of my story, could not believe my brother’s name is Cale, and misedited me.

Well, further on I figured since that column is broken up by that thought, I may as well write a little something about a lot of nothings. These are all gripes in their own rights, but just not enough to base a column on. (OK I couldn’t think about anything to write about this week.)

Why is it that I seem to be the only Daily sports opinion writer that doesn’t write about the Iowa State football team every week?

How come the college football top 25 list looks the same year after year?

With the exception of five new teams every year, it’s basically the same teams, and they barely ever move up or down.

For example, Kansas State never cracks the top 10 until the middle of the season, but they always remain there; meanwhile Texas A&M couldn’t be removed with bleach (until this year).

What is so great about Tiger Woods? The sports world cannot go a day without mentioning him, but he hasn’t even won anything yet.

On the same note, what is so great about Kobe Bryant? (A huge shoe contract, and he hasn’t even played an NBA game)

Is it just me, or isn’t it the same analysts bitching about players leaving school early to join the NBA who also told me last year how great Kevin Garnett was, and how his stats would just get better because the NBA is just a learning process?

Was I the only one that thought Arizona State was getting no respect before the Nebraska game, and they would win just to spite the almighty sportscasters?

How come every time I turn on the danged radio, I hear White Zombie? Heck, the only person I can even get to admit to liking them is my roommate.

The Carolina Panthers are the feel-good sensation of the sports world. Wouldn’t it be just beautiful to see them beat up the big three and go to the Super Bowl?

Am I the only one that gets an empty feeling every time I see a happy Ravens fan, since there is also a broken-hearted Browns fan?

If Michael Jordan is the perfect sports role model, how come he sells out so quickly?

I just can’t understand his great reputation after he left the NBA out of pure selfishness and then whined about his salary all last year, but every time an athlete gets caught breaking the law, I am forced to hear about the perfect role model, Michael Jordan.

Do Dallas fans really think that Michael Irvin is going to come waltzing in and save their season after the fifth game?

Am I the only one who can’t understand the NASCAR standings and how come Jeff Gordon hasn’t won already? (Go Dick Trickle Go.)

Cheerleading is a great sport that constantly is not even recognized. How many of you even knew that our cheer squad went to the Olympics and cheered this summer?

Talk about your negative columns, but I did mention the Panthers, and I promise a real happy fun column next week.
