MSA’s still working
September 26, 1996
To the ethnic minority community:
The Carrie Chapman Catt Hall controversy continues.
Where is Minority Student Affairs (MSA)?
As the director of MSA, I would like to provide you the answer.
I feel that the discussion centered on renaming the building is but a symptom of the current environment. It is our (MSA) responsibility to address those symptoms.
We continue to work with the students to address the feelings of anger, confusion, rage, pain, etc.
Wether the name is changed or not is a decision that will be made at the appropriate levels and is beyond MSA.
It is our responsibility to relay the concerns of the students to the administration.
The office of Minority Student Affairs will continue to support the students’ efforts to educate the university community on this and other issues.
MSA will continue to provide resources and opportunities for open dialogue and advocate for creating and maintaining an environment that is safe and welcoming to all students of color.
