The great unknown
August 26, 1996
I am the Epistoleus, or public relations officer, of the Upsilon Nu Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. here at Iowa State.
I read the Daily each day and find that the amount of coverage concerning the National Panhellic Council sororities and fraternities to be close to null.
There were some of them, I will admit. But there are all these other articles about rush and other sororities that are not minority ones, what about the others that do not participate in rush? Rush is not the only way to join a sorority. There are others on campus such as historically black or hispanic ones. In-coming students need to be informed of these others, they perform duties on campus as well.
The rush article was interesting, but it gives the impression that it is the only way to learn about Iowa State sororities. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. as well as many other sororities that are not part of rush, hold informationals. How about an article covering that, as dates when these are held are available. These occur later in the fall.
What this whole thing boils down to is that the minority fraternity and sororities are practically unknown to students. People need to see both sides of the coin.
Please feel free to respond or ask any questions.
