ISUCards free for three more days

Daily Staff Writer

Iowa State students have three more days to get the new identification card — the ISUCard — before there will be a charge.

Beginning Monday, Aug. 26, all ISUCards will cost $15 for any student who still needs one. Until then, the cards are free.

Students can purchase their ISUCard at the northwest study lounge in the Memorial Union Aug. 23-24, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Aug. 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If students want or already have a checking account with Firstar Bank, they have the option of using it to access ATM and shopping card services at a variety of campus locations including the food service at residence halls, most purchases at the Memorial Union food court and the most purchases at the University Bookstore.

Most campus vending machines also accept the ISUCard for food purchases.

The ISUCard contains magnetically encoded information, including a student’s personal identification number. For security purposes, this is not the social security number, but a four-digit number students choose when they purchase their ISUCard. However, the social security number may be needed to access certain services on campus.
