The Government of the Student Body kicked of the new school year with its first meeting of the fall session last night, Wednesday, August 28.

Topping the GSB agenda was the unanimous selection of Todd Swanson to the position of director of financial affairs for the 1996-97 term.

The GSB also announced that it is now taking applications for membership to its cabinet and various committees.

“We are now taking applications for committee and cabinet memberships. The cabinet applications need to be handed in by next Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the latest. The committee applications need to be handed in before Sept. 18,” Dan Etler, GSB chief of staff said.

Etler also explained what qualities the GSB was looking for in its applicants.

“We’re looking for people to serve on cabinet and committee positions who want to get involved. This is an excellent opportunity for students to get involved,” Etler said.

Jamey Hansen, senator for the college of education, was elected to the position of vice chair.

The vice chair’s duties are to take over the place and duties of Vice President Carolyn Jones if she is unable to attend a GSB meeting.
