Degree of study
July 15, 1996
I am writing in response to your commentary on education that appeared in the Daily on July 9.
Over the years, it has been my impression that most such commentaries by students consisted of complaints about having to study too hard, not enough social activities on campus, not enough parking places, etc and seldom discussed what I had assumed was the main attraction of Iowa State, namely to get an education.
Thus I found your comments on education refreshing. It was especially pleasing to know that at least some students have a true interest in learning and are willing to make that their goal rather than just earning a college degree. I only wish that your column had appeared during the academic year when more students were on campus. Thank you for providing such a fine column.
