Gold gives students the shaft

It is obvious that many students are opposed to the idea of putting a McDonald’s on campus. So obvious, you would think our official representative would relay that concern to the school administration. But Adam Gold, our GSB President, disagrees with these students.
According to the student body constitution, the GSB president is the official representative of the student body, and over the summer months, with the Senate out of action, he is our only official voice.
Gold didn’t feel there was a need to tell the students about the idea in the spring, and as our representative this summer he has no plans to address the Regents when they make the final decision this Thursday. So, officially, we’re out of luck.
Despite the initiatives of the many concerned students who called Gold, our president has chosen not to act. Is this the kind of representation we can expect throughout the coming year?
With Gold’s short but controversial history as GSB President— withholding the Music Fest announcement until after the election, choosing an unqualified candidate for finance director and now not acting on the McDonald’s controversy — we must ask: Whose interest does he have in mind?
