The Ames Gingko Festival will hold something of interest for Ames residents. However, the celebration is still searching for volunteers.
Free t-shirts are available for those who want to lend a helping hand.
There are many opportunities and positions for volunteers at this year’s celebration.
“Right now we’re looking for people to man the barricades for the street closing Saturday,” Jodi Culpepper of the Ames Convention and Visitors Bureau said.
Culpepper said they especially need volunteers Saturday from 12-3 p.m. and 3-6 p.m.
So far, she said, the response has been “a little slow.” They need about 100 volunteers to help out with the celebration.
To help at the Gingko Festival, contact Jodi Culpepper at the Ames Convention and Visitors Bureau at 232-4032, or stop by the bureau at 213 Duff Ave. and fill out a volunteer application.
Volunteers also are needed to help with Midnight Madness Road Races on Saturday night. The race events will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will run until 9 p.m., to be followed by an after race party of tunes, snacks and fun.
If anyone is interested in helping out at a water station, with course control or with finish line activities, they can contact Roman Lynch at 292-0133 or 233-6057.
