Big Mac attack

To The Editor:

When I first heard about the McDonald’s-in-the-hub story I was hoping that it was a joke.

Unfortunately, it turned out that this was not the case.

Having the McDonald’s in the heart of our campus, besides creating all the practical problems that are so well enumerated by Robert Zeis in his Daily article, will be offensive to the aesthetic taste and, more importantly, the academic morals and principles of most ISU students and faculty.

If the ISU administration is mostly interested in our convenience and health (as they pretend they are) my suggestion would be to allow in the hub some space to open a University food services cafeteria like the ones that exist in Friley or the towers (having perhaps a more limited variety of items).

If, however, the administration is more interested in collecting as much money as possible without any regard to the short, medium and long term serious negative consequences in the academic spirit and life, then I would suggest that they lease the top of our campanile for better advertising the coming of the Big Macs.
