Ingersoll gets lovestruck

On May 2, the Ingersoll Dinner Theater will present its version of Oklahoma. The play will run through June 9, and there will be matinees on May 9, 12, 15 and 29.

Oklahoma is the story of America’s southland during pioneer days. It includes such classical songs as “Surrey With the Fringe on Top,” “Oh What a Beautiful Morning” and, of course, “Oklahoma.”

The play is directed and choreographed by D.J. Horrigan, who has been associated with the Ingersoll Dinner Theater for more than 10 years, according to Scott Kees, director of marketing at the theater. Set and technical direction are by Dave Barr, who also appears in the play as Andrew Carnegie, Kees added.

The price of admission also includes a four-entree buffet dinner. The menu includes carved roast baron of beef, meat lasagna, white fish almondine and smoked sausage with baked beans, Kees said.

Two hot vegetables and five cold salads will also be served, along with a tossed salad and homemade dinner rolls, Kees said. Coffee, tea and water will be included in the admission price.

“A full bar and dessert will be available at an additional cost,” Kees said. The type of dessert has not yet been finalized, but Kees believes it will be a cheesecake.

The theater opens at 6 p.m., with dinner served until 7:30. The play begins at 8 p.m. At matinees, dinner is served from noon until 1 p.m., and the show starts at 1:30 p.m.

Of 8,100 seats available, 4,664 had already been sold by April 30. But not to worry — according to Kees, there is still plenty of good seating available.

Tickets for Saturday performances run $29.50. Tickets for all other showings cost $25. Tickets are available for the show only at the low cost of $17.50.
