Smells a little fishy

To The Editor:

I find it extremely hard to understand why the announcement of the

cancellation of Music Fest was announced AFTER the GSB presidential elections.

As you (read, campus) should know that GSB’s president-elect was in charge of finding a “BIG” band to headline for this show. I believe this was a major responsibility, considering $15,000 was at stake. I think the ISU campus should be DEMANDING an answer to two questions.

(1) Why was the decision to announce that a “big” band would not be performing at Music Fest made after the GSB elections?

What type of “deal” was made to keep this quiet until after the elections?

(2) What is going to happen to the $15,000 that the GSB allocated to fund a “big” band?

Maybe I am suspicious by nature but the fact that the announcement was made after the elections leads me to believe that next fall, when the

future Veishea co-chairs need additional funding, who do you think they will ask for support but GSB President ADAM GOLD.

Before I end this letter, I would like to add that I believe that Veishea is a great tradition and that I normally would not think to embarrass the organizers of this event.

I, however, feel that the timing of this announcement jeopardizes the integrity of Veishea and possibly some ethical issues were not considered.
