ISUCard a troublemaker
May 2, 1996
What’s new at ISU?
The all-in-one identification cards, of course. Although these cards look like they are a boon to many college students, some students are disappointed by this change in cards.
You might ask, why? One of my friends said, “Why should I be made to carry a money card with me? What if I lose this card? What if it gets stolen? I’d be a nervous wreck.”
Personally, I feel that my friend is right.
Just like most students, I carry my identification card with me all the time, but I leave my money card back at home. I do this so that I don’t have to worry about losing it.
Now that we have this new identification card that can be used as a money card, things are not the same.
I feel that I have become vulnerable to acts such as thefts or the consequences of my own carelessness by having this card with me.
What if someone just picks my pocket? I wouldn’t know who stole my money card the next day.
What if I misplace my card? I doubt that I will find it the next day. Things like this can happen to anybody.
Some people say that you do not have to make your ID card a money card if you don’t want to.
The problem is that the person stealing your money card doesn’t know whether it is a money card or not.
That person would take it anyway. I am sure that my friend and I are not the only ones who feel this way.
I feel that these new cards could end up causing problems to some students pretty soon.
