Career Fairs Inc. will be in Des Moines Thursday to host the Greater Des Moines Career Fair.

The event will feature 33 national, regional and local companies searching for people to fill management and sales positions, said Eric Cano, national media director for Career Fairs Inc.

The companies represented cover a wide variety of interests in the fields of sales, insurance, retail, data processing, marketing, finance, telecommunications and restaurants, Cano said. Several well-known companies including Pizza Hut and Telecom are planning to send representatives to the event in Des Moines.

“There are a lot of sales markets open,” Cano said. “The jobs that are available here are typically manager and sales positions.”

The job fair will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Embassy Suite, 101 East Locust St., Des Moines.

The fair will offer several services to anyone who is searching for a job. Cano said each of the companies will have representatives at the event who can give information and answer questions about their company. In addition there will also be a number of seminars discussing career related topics.

“This is really a great opportunity. It gives people the chance to talk to someone from the company in person rather than just sending in a resume,” Cano said. “We try to put the people with the companies and give them a chance to get a career or change a career. We are here to give people an additional tool in the job search process.”

Career Fairs Inc., a national company based in Omaha, Neb., sponsors more than 125 fairs each year in more than 45 cities around the country.

Although the event is primarily directed at people with experience and those who are recent or soon-to-be college graduates, all of the events are free and open to anyone who is interested, Cano said.
