Iowa State Daily Editorial Board: Troy McCullough, Tim Davis, Jennifer Holland, Kathleen Carlson and Jenny Hykes.
The alternative campus publication, The Drummer, has won national awards: runner-up for best alternative publication of the year, first place for design and honorable mention for reporting.
This is something to be proud of, not only for the Drummer, but for the whole university. The Drummer provides a different and an important forum to discuss and inform about issues relevant to the university.
The Drummer offers a different sort of news, with opinions strongly and insightfully presented.
Even if you don’t agree with the opinions, you will be broadened by considering other sides to the story you may not have been exposed to were it not for The Drummer.
The Drummer has discussed everything form the remodeling of the Memorial Union, to corporate America, the flat tax and the financial concerns of the middle class.
In the past year, the Government of the Student Body has considered cutting the funding of The Drummer, because it felt not enough students read The Drummer.
Awards like these and the valuable information and opinions The Drummer provides should show GSB and all of the student body that their money is well spent.
