Youth invited to Easter egg hunt

The Easter bunny is about six feet tall, light colored and fuzzy and will be seen this weekend on campus.

Children of students and faculty are invited to participate in an Easter egg hunt sponsored by Omega Tau Sigma, fraternity of the college of veterinary medicine, Saturday at 10 a.m. in the courtyard of the Veterinary College.

The annual event drew about 40 children last year, said Ed Loebach, community service representative for Omega Tau Sigma and third-year veterinary medicine student.

The fraternity dyes hard-boiled eggs and fills plastic eggs with goodies for the event and then hides them.

“It’s a lot of fun seeing all the little kids in the morning running around and having a good time,” Loebach said.

He said his fraternity plans on decorating about 14 dozen hard boiled eggs this Friday, but not all of them get hidden in the court yard for the hunt.

“Some of our egg designs get a little disgusting. Some of us have a pretty macabre sense of humor. Some of the eggs, the gross ones, get censored.

None of the eggs with tapeworm designs will make it out,” said Loebach.

Loebach said the courtyard will be divided into three sections; the children will be divided into three age groups and will then hunt in the section that has eggs hidden to their ability level.
