Point of information
April 9, 1996
I am writing in response to J.S. Leonard’s fundraising article in last Wednesday’s Daily.
There are perhaps a few facts relating to the University’s giving program that were not available to the writer when the article was compiled.
The University Library has increased its annual giving pledge rate steadily each year since fundraising began at the Library almost four years ago.
With the help of the ISU Foundation’s Annual Giving Office, we are far ahead of both donor and dollar totals from where we were last year.
We have become more visible in other ways as well. For example: our Friends program, which sponsored a reading earlier this month by ISU alumni Tom and Jean Sutherland from their new book At Your Own Risk.
I have confidence that the University Library will continue to increase the level of private giving each year and through those funds continue to provide a superb library for ISU faculty, staff and students and the Ames community as a whole.
