Renowned musicians take the stage tonight

A concert of a lifetime will take the stage of Stephens Auditorium when two of today’s most distinguished musicians join together in concert.

Tonight, music lovers will watch and listen as Emanuel Ax and Yo-Yo Ma’s minds and hearts become as closely attuned as bow and fingers.

For more than a decade, pianist Ax and cellist Ma have been setting a precedent in the classical music world with their long-standing partnership. The pair has garnered three Grammy Awards, and their joint recitals are among the most anticipated music events each year.

Ax is acclaimed for his brilliant technique and poetic lyricism. His many prestigious awards encompass past performances with every major symphony, recitals in the great concert halls and a catalog of celebrated recordings.

Ma is an eight-time Grammy Award winner and one of the most sought-after cellists of our time. He has appeared with eminent conductors and orchestras in all the music capitals of the world.

Ma started his career at the age of five, when he gave his first public concert.

By the time he was 19, he was compared with such masters as Rostropovich and Casals.

Tonight’s concert begins at 7:30. Tickets are still available at the Iowa State Center Box Office for this critically acclaimed duo. Prices for ISU students and those 18 and under are $14, $18 and $25.
