Steve Sawyer a 20-year-old hemophiliac, will speak about living with AIDS in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union at 8 p.m. today.
Sawyer, who contracted the AIDS virus through a blood transfusion, launched a nationwide speaking tour after he was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver during his freshman year at Curry College in Boston, Mass.
In his speech, Sawyer will expose three unsuccessful ways to deal with suffering and how his faith has brought him hope.
“Steve has amazed me with his strength and his humor and his positive outlook on life in the midst of this situation,” said Vicki Guinn, associate campus director for Campus Crusade for Christ.
Sawyer’s discussion will be followed by an informal question and answer session. The event is free for all who would like to attend.
