Actors wanted

Daily Staff Writer

Auditions for I Hate Hamlet, a contemporary comedy by Paul Rudnick, will be held this Sunday, April 21, at 2 p.m. at the Des Moines Playhouse.

I Hate Hamlet is about Andrew Rally, a television actor who is cast as Hamlet in a Shakespeare in the Park production. The problem? He hates the play. Things get out of hand when the ghost of the great actor, John Barrymore (who once played Hamlet), appears to coach Andrew in the fine arts of acting, drinking and womanizing.

Roles available for I Hate Hamlet include three men, ages 18 and up, and three women, ages 18 and up.

The show will be directed by Richard Choate, who directed this winter’s production of A Few Good Men as well as last season’s Lost in Yonkers.
