The Iowa State softball team traveled to Columbia, Missouri for a three game conference set with the Missouri Tigers last weekend, but only played one contest due to rain.

Missouri beat the Cyclones on Saturday 3-2 behind the solid pitching of Barb Wright who went the distance, including one extra frame, recording nine strikeouts and issuing a single walk, while allowing only one earned run. Courtney Dully took the loss for Iowa State to even her record at 7-7.

Iowa State’s Debbie Nease continued her hot hitting with a double in the second, but was left on base.

The Cyclones scored their first run of the game in the sixth inning, trailing 2-0, when Missy Danilson crossed the plate pinch running for Raven Coberg who singled.

Cyclone co-captain Kally Hogan singled in the seventh and Angie McRell came in to pinch run.

McRell was then singled home by Jane Wagner to tie the score and send the game into extra innings.

Missouri scored in their half of the eighth to win the game.

The loss dropped the Cyclone’s record to 16-23 overall and 6-11 in the conference.

The Cyclones return home to host Creighton to a twin bill on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
