While Iowans still feel some of the negative effects of the floods of ’93, one woman transformed the experience into a work of art. “Earthly Moltings” is by Betty Fitzsimmons, who captured the images she saw in Saylorville Gorge after the floods, and those photographs will be on display from Monday, April 15 through May 10 at the Polk County Heritage Gallery.
The public is invited to a reception this Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m., where Fitzsimmons will cite readings from her book. The gallery is located at First and Walnut Streets in Des Moines. Call 286-3215 for more information.
