Iowa State’s campus radio station is desperately trying to get back on the air, but a large factor in the process seems to be money.
After being off the air for nearly a year, KUSR seems to have a lack of it. The Government of the Student Body may be able to help by deciding to allocate some of its funds to the station.
Here are 10 reasons why GSB should fund KUSR:
1) KUSR is the only student controlled and student operated radio station in Ames.
2) KUSR is the only station in central Iowa that plays true alternative music.
3) KUSR is the only station in central Iowa that offers an eclectic variety of programming and musical formats.
4) KUSR provides another voice for the students of this university.
5) KUSR offers many students valuable and practical on-air experience.
6) KUSR is loyal to ISU athletics with its live interviews, sports commentary, shows and live game coverage.
7) Unlike every other station in this area, KUSR’s programming is not dictated by mindless marketing strategies.
8) Your parents probably wouldn’t like KUSR.
9) KUSR doesn’t overdo the country, doesn’t try to pass off dance music as alternative and has figured out that classic rock isn’t limited to Bob Seeger, Led Zeppelin and the Steve Miller Band.
10) KUSR almost always plays your requests within 15 minutes.
Give the station some money. The campus is a better place with KUSR on the air.
