Wasting time and money

With millions of dollars spent making legislative decisions and about four or five months to do it in, the state legislature takes too much time doing a whole lot of nothing.
Last Tuesday, the House decided that Miss Iowa should be the official state hostess. This was a non-binding decision.
While Miss Iowa could be a very fine person and a great candidate for being a state hostess, it wasn’t really necessary for the House to take the time to make that decision, when a secretary or someone else could just have easily done the same thing.
Especially since the “official” state hostess now has the position because of an “official” non-binding decision (in other words, the decision doesn’t “officially” mean anything).
In other important mind-boggling, environment improving, employment increasing, human rights awareness type of business, the House, while it was truly nice, used taxpayers’ money to honor an Iowa State football player, who by all means hadn’t been honored before, so of course, it must be done “officially.”
What would the taxpayers of Iowa do without our”official” legislature
Save a little money perhaps?
