An Iowa State student was hospitalized after falling off her loft Saturday morning, officials said.

Theresa J. Sawick, a sophomore in civil engineering, of 4257 Willow Hall, fell off her loft and was knocked unconscious, said Jerry Stewart, assistant director of the Iowa State Department of Public Safety.

He said DPS received a 911 call before Sawick was transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center by ambulance at 5:49 a.m.

On Monday afternoon, Sawick was listed in serious condition in the intensive care unit at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
