A false bomb threat was made at North Grand Mall Saturday, officials said.
According to the Ames Police Department, a Nevada man, Byjoe C. Cookout, a.k.a. Robert W. Miller, 46, came into a store in the mall at about 3 p.m. and announced that he was going to bomb it.
Mall security officials notified the police, who then arrested Cookout for making a false report, a Class D felony.
If Cookout is convicted, he will receive a maximum of five years in prison, $7,500 in fines or both.
