The Iowa State lacrosse club captured first place at the Mankato State University Spring Lacrosse Tournament.
Iowa State won all four of its contests, which were held on April 13 and 14, outscoring its opponents 37-9 despite bringing only two extra players.
Strong midfield play by Matt Carver, Scott Martling and Zack Roberts helped keep the ball in the offensive end of the field.
Offense was not the only factor in the victories, though, as first-year goalie Matt Parisi proved stellar, averaging 12 saves a game.
This is the first season that the Cyclones have participated in the Upper Midwest Lacrosse League. Iowa State is now 3-2 in league play and 6-4 overall for the season.
The next tournament for the club is April 27-28 at St. John’s University in Minnesota.
