An Iowa State faculty member was the victim of a hit-and-run incident Tuesday, officials said.

Gloria Cain, 48, an academic adviser in the computer science department, was hit by a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old Ames resident near the Molecular Biology Building, said Jerry Stewart, assistant director of the Iowa State Department of Public Safety. Stewart said charges were pending against the driver.

DPS officials responded to the call at 7:49 a.m. at Pammel Drive and the entrance to Lot 25, east of the Molecular Biology Building at the pedestrian crosswalk, Stewart said.

Cain was transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center by ambulance, Stewart said. Hospital officials said Cain was treated and released Tuesday. DPS officials said the investigation into the incident is continuing.
