The Iowa State women’s softball team struggled this weekend, dropping three games to Texas A&M.

The Cyclone women got off to a tough start on Saturday, dropping a 4-1 decision to the Aggies.

Iowa State’s only run came in the seventh inning off a Wendy Walls single, which wasn’t enough for extra innings.

Cyclone freshman Erin Woods provided a spark on offense for the Cyclones by going 2-for-4, while teammate Jamie Kahler provided the only other hit for the Cyclones. Junior pitcher Debbie Nease suffered the loss on the mound for ISU, dropping her record to 4-8 overall.

The Cyclone offense struggled again in the second game, losing 1-0.

While the offense struggled, Cyclone pitcher Courtney Dully pitched masterfully, carrying a no-hitter into the sixth inning before an ISU throwing error led to the Aggies’ only run.

The Aggies completed the three- game sweep on Sunday with an 8-2 loss.

After racking up an early 2-0 lead on sophomore Jamie Kahler’s and senior Angie Balakshin’s singles, the Cyclones were silenced the rest of the game.

Collectively, the Cyclone mustered eight hits in the loss.

Cyclones Erin Woods, Kally Hogan, Jane Wagner and Raven Coberg all went 1-for-3.

Junior Jeannie Lobel got the loss on the mound, dropping her record to 2-4 on the season.

But it was A&M’s Michelle Weldon who blasted a fourth-inning grand slam that blew the door wide open.

Weldon also singled in a run in the seventh inning to finish the 8-2 Aggie victory owning five A&M runs batted in.

The Cyclones (15-19) will now host Kansas on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
