An outlet for student opinions

Editorial Board

The Student Organizations and Activity Center (SOAC) recognized the importance of student input on campus by developing a council of student organization leaders.

The council was formed last month by Assistant Dean of Students Terri Houston to improve communication between student organizations and SOAC.

Bimonthly, the council members discuss university issues, such as those surrounding Memorial Union renovations and the KUSR radio station, and offer their opinions to the administration and SOAC. The council also provides networking opportunities for the students involved.

With over 500 student organizations on campus, the council could potentially be the voice of thousands of ISU students.

Council members represent the residence halls, greek system, International Student Council, Black Student Alliance, Graduate Student Senate, Government of the Student Body, Student Alumni Association, Student Union Board and Veishea.

The council still needs non-traditional student and athlete representatives. In addition, if anyone feels that an organization is not represented on the council, concerns should be directed to Terri Houston in room 64 of the Memorial Union. SOAC should be commended for creating an outlet for student opinion.
