Fitness tested at the Rec Center

Iowa State students will have the opportunity to have their fitness levels tested Nov. 13 from 6-8 p.m. at the Lied Recreation/Athletic Facility.

Students from the Association for Worksite Health Promotion (AWHP) will be testing students and faculty.

Rob Noland, vice president of AWHP, said some of the tests include muscular strength endurance, skin fold, blood pressure and cardiovascular fitness.

“Students have an opportunity to find out their general fitness in relation to their peers and to know what to work on to improve their fitness levels,” Noland said. In the past, the biggest draw has been the body fat test. “For the most part, it seems like the people who participate are already at the rec center,” Noland said. “I would like to see more students get health conscious about their fitness levels. If you went to a clinic for fitness testing you would get charged for it. We provide the service for free.”

Noland recommends aerobic instead of weight workouts for students conscious about their fitness levels. AWHP is an ISU campus organization.
