Authorities identify man found dead

An Ames man found dead in his home with gunshot wounds to his head Tuesday morning has been identified by Ames police as Thomas Gardner, 38, 804 Top-O-Hollow Road.

An initial police investigation revealed the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.
