The last of Cy’s Eyes
November 17, 1995
Hey kids! Here’s your last chance to win Cy’s Eyes this season. That’s right, these are the last picks of the year, so get them into the Daily office in 108 Hamilton Hall by 3 p.m. today for your chance to win a free pizza from Pizza Pit and a T-shirt from T-Galaxy.
Here are the games in case you missed them: Colorado at Kansas State, UCLA at USC, Michigan at Penn State, Virginia Tech at Virginia, Alabama at Auburn, Iowa at Wisconsin, Maine at Central Florida and Iowa State at Missouri.
Don’t forget to include the total points of the Cyclone-Tiger match-up for the tiebreaker. Good Luck!
Jason Howland-Sports Editor, (42-26)
A tear comes to my eye as we come to the last Cy’s Eyes and because I, in all likelihood, will lose to a bald man (Chad Calek).
The Cyclones will close out the season with a win over Missouri and Troy Davis will run for a grand total of 2,046 yards for the season, 42-17.
Kansas State will continue to roll with a win over the the Buffaloes. USC will win at home and Michigan will stun Joe Paterno on his home field.
Virginia Tech will beat Virginia, Alabama whips Auburn, and the Hawkeyes lose big time.
In the “who cares” game of the week, Central Florida will beat a tough Maine team at home.
Go Golden Knights!
Chad Calek-Asst. Sports Editor, (48-19)
The last week of Cy’s Eyes, and in only my freshman season, I will win the title of “Best Cy’s Eyer.” Sounds snazzy, huh?
Here we go. Kansas State over Colorado. Homefield means everything. USC over UCLA at home. Abdul Jabbar won’t cut it. Penn St. over a funny little Michigan squad. Virginia over Virginia Tech. Auburn over Alabama. I could get burned here. Wisconsin edges out Iowa.
Troy Davis will finally get his 2,000 yards in a 36-21 Cyclone victory.
Roger Ossian- T-Galaxy, (42-26)
Troy Davis will hit 2,400 total yards rushing, and he’ll be the only player invited to New York for the Heisman as the Cyclones beat Missouri, 50-10.
All other big-time schools will now know where ISU is.
Other winners: Colorado, USC, Penn State, Virginia, Alabama, Wisconsin and Maine.
Cy – ISU turbo bird(43-25)
Hey, Cyclone fans, don’t get too distraught that this is the last Cy’s Eyes picks for the season, this week’s Cy’s picks are sure to be a winner. If you have any money after paying off your U-Bill, call up your favorite bookie and put money down on my picks.
The Cyclones will take Columbia by storm. Troy Davis will get his 2,000 yards, and the Iowa State senior football players will all go out winners in a 27-0 pasting of Missouri. The Cyclones will certainly take the roar out of the Tigers.
In other games that really don’t matter, look for these teams to win: Kansas State, UCLA, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Alabama, Wisconsin and Maine.
Tattooed Guru – The Legend, (37-31)
For my final picks I shall dazzle with bull and beat the hell outta my competition. Not that I haven’t consistently killed ’em, I have and they’re just too proud to admit defeat at the Guru’s hands. Hahahahahahahaha.
Ohh, my picks. First off, Iowa State will win behind Troy’s magnificent 245-yard effort, wrapping up the Heisman, which shouldn’t surprise anyone, 42-10.
Colorado will lose to a tough, tough Kansas State team by 24, 27-3. UCLA will lose to USC by 10, 10-0, while Penn State beats Michigan by five, 18-13.
The Cavaliers of Virginia will prove they can win consistently by trouncing Virginia Tech, 28-3, and Auburn will beat a lousy Alabama team, 42-18.
And in the “man do they suck game,” Iowa will get Ke-rushed by Wisconsin, 38-14. Proving that the Hawks bite worse than a rabid Cujo. By the way, Maine will take care of a Central Florida team, 10-9.
Them’s the picks, and I have ruled this semester. The percentage doesn’t matter, at least I’ve stayed true to my teams, unlike some. Forever a Cyclone. See ya.
