Davis leads ISU nominees

ISU all-American tailback Troy Davis was named ISU’s Most Valuable Player at the 1995 Cyclone Football Banquet Monday night in he Hilton Coliseum.

Davis was also rewarded with the Ray Scott Award as the team’s outstanding offensive player and the Reuben J. Miller Award for his conduct on and off the field.

Davis, who finished the season with 2,010 yards, has been named to the Football News and Walter Camp all-American teams.

ISU senior free safety Matt Straight received the Al and Dean Knudson award as Iowa State’s best defensive player.

Center Pat Augafa received the Durwood Moss award for most outstanding newcomer.

Preston Rhamy was honored with the Jim Doran award for outstanding special teams play.

Tim Kohn and defensive lineman Jason Putz were given the Arthur Floyd Scott Awards as the team’s best offensive and defensive linemen.

Dale Rowley was honored with the Bill Daily award for the player who has made a great team contribution with little public recognition.
