Commitment to education

Eighty voices of the University Chorus will continue to be heard next semester, thanks to music director Robert Molison.

Because of a limited budget, the University Chorus will not be funded by the music department this spring. A new jazz choir — an addition to next semester’s curriculum — called for the need to cut funding for an existing choir.

Although the University Chorus won’t be available for credit next semester, it will continue to function as a university club under Molison’s direction.

He will no longer be compensated for directing the University Chorus, but Molison is adamant about the choir’s continued existence.

“The choir will not die when I’m around,” he said. Molison’s commitment to his department and to his students is admirable.

Eighty voices will be thankful for Molison’s donated time, as will hundreds of concert-goers next semester.
