While students are away, Cy-Ride drivers will be enjoying a vacation marked by a day off and fewer evening routes.

Starting tomorrow and running until the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Cy-Ride bus line will be decreasing its service to deal with an expected 75 percent decline in ridership.

Cy-Ride dispatcher Gary Richey, said the buses would run on schedule on most off-campus routes. He said the brown and orange on-campus routes would change to reflect an absence of students.

There will be no buses running on Thanksgiving Day and the following day they will be running a Saturday break schedule. Richey said the Moonlight Express Service normally operating Friday and Saturday nights will not run either weekend during break.

Other routes have been changed to meet riders’ differing needs over the break. Orange route buses will run every 15 minutes and the brown route buses will run every 40 minutes. After 7 p.m., green and blue routes will run at 40-minute intervals and the orange line will not run after 6 p.m.

In spite of all the changes, some of the routes will maintain a normal schedule. Richey said the red and yellow routes will be operating normal routes during the week. He said anyone who was unsure about the bus schedule changes should consult a bus driver or call the Cy-Ride office at 292-1100.
