Kansas-ISU game tackles the Internet

Anyone cruising Internet this Saturday has a chance to be part of history as the Iowa State and University of Kansas football game will be one of the first to be covered live.

The game will be put on the Internet by KJHK, 90.7 FM, the student-run radio station at Kansas. KJHK has its own homepage. The address for the site is: http://www.cc.ukans.edu/~kjhknet. The site may be found by using Netscape.

Kansas is the first university to cover home football games live on the Internet, graduate teaching assistant and KJHK official Derek Moscato said.

“Everyone can tune in,” he said.

The football pregame will begin at noon, Moscato said, and every two minutes during the game, scores will be posted.

Also, postgame statistics will be offered and people may participate in an interactive Top 25 poll.

“Students can vote who they think the Top 25 teams should be,” Moscato said, “if you think Troy Davis is really good, vote for Iowa State.”

Moscato asks that students who tune in write Kansas and give the station feedback about the broadcast.

On the KHJK site, explanations are available about how to follow along during the game. Links — words or phrases, which are underlined and in color — are given for “Kansas vs. Iowa State Game” and “College Football Fan Poll.” Users may click on them for additional information about the topics.

There is also a link which tells users what they need to tune into the game. “It’s a great medium,” Moscato said.
