At Allen Fieldhouse for Iowa State’s first Big 12 road game, the No. 25 Cyclones were able to take down Kansas 82-73 behind Bridget Carleton’s 33 points.

Carleton led all scorers with 33 points as she converted 11-17 field goals from the floor and went 10-12 at the free throw line. Carleton also had six rebounds and five assists.

Iowa State had two other players in double figures in point guard Alexa Middleton and center Kristin Scott.

Middleton registered 10 points, seven assists and four turnovers.

Scott was perfect shooting from the floor and finished with 17 points on 7-7 shooting and 3-3 from three point range. In addition, Scott had five rebounds and four blocks.

Scott was the catalyst behind Iowa State’s bench outscoring Kansas’ 24-5 as Kansas struggled to find offensive output aside from its starters.

The Jayhawks’ top scorer was Christalah Lyons, who had 24 points and six assists.

Three other Jayhawks had double digit points in Kylee Kopatich, Austin Richardson and Jessica Washington. Kapatich and Richardson both had 14 points while Washington had 12.

At the half, Iowa State led the Jayhawks 39-29. Despite outscoring Iowa State 44-43 in the second half, the first half slow start was too much for the Jayhawks to overcome.

With the win, Iowa State sits at 12-2 overall and 2-0 in the Big 12, while Kansas is 10-2 and 0-1 in the Big 12.

At 2-0, Iowa State is currently the top team in the Big 12 standings.
