Family from Pella selected as ISU’s 1995 Family of the Year

The Roehr family of Pella has been named Iowa State University’s 1995 Family of the Year.

The Roehrs will be introduced Friday evening and presented with a plaque in the Scheman Building. The family will also be recognized on Saturday during a pregame ceremony at Jack Trice Field/Cyclone Stadium.

The Roehr family was nominated by Kari Roehr, a senior in chemical engineering. “I think we as a family have made some outstanding contributions to the university and I felt they needed to be recognized,” Roehr said.

Roehr’s parents and sister also attended ISU.

Don Roehr graduated in 1961 with a degree in agricultural education. He is the principal of a middle school in Pella. Ardie Fett Roehr received a home economics education degree in 1967. She is teaches home economics at Lynnville-Sully High School.

Roehr’s older sister, Kristie, received a consumer food science degree in 1995. She is employed by Kraft Foods as an assistant brands manager in Illinois. Kari Roehr plans to graduate in May of 1996 and pursue a career in product development.
