James Dean and Marilyn Monroe will be coming to the Oak Room of the Memorial Union — in spirit anyway.

A poster sale begins Monday, Oct. 9 and the sale, sponsored by the Union, will offer a selection of posters of musicians and bands, as well as new-and-old movie stars.

“The most popular posters at the sale are of James Dean and Marilyn Monroe,” said Andy Kitzmann, program advisor for the Union.

Kitzmann said the sale is “well-attended” by students every year because the posters are available at reasonable prices.

Students agreed.

“I’ve gone to the sale every year because the posters are cheap and there is a great variety,” said Michelle Santi, a senior in apparel merchandising.

Sarah Vanderah, a junior in dietetics, said: “I was glad my roommate got me to go to the last sale. The sale had a better selection than any store I have been to in Ames. I would definitely go to another sale.”

“The profits from the sale will go to the Student Union Board and will be used toward SUB films held throughout the year,” Kitzmann said.

The sale continues through Friday, Oct. 13. It is open each day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
