After suffering its first loss of the season on Wednesday, Iowa State got back in the win column with a 91-82 win over Arkansas Sunday at Hilton Coliseum. With the win, Iowa State moves to 6-1 on the season.

The game was played as part of the Big 12/SEC Challenge and was Iowa State’s first ever win in the history of the event, which was first established in 2014 on the women’s side. The Challenge didn’t include all 10 Big 12 Conference teams until 2016, however.

While Iowa State led the entire game, things got particular interesting toward the end, as Arkansas cut a 14-point fourth quarter deficit to three with under three minutes to play. That’s when Kristin Scott, in perhaps her best game as a Cyclone, hit a key 3-pointer to give the Cyclones a six point lead and momentum.

Scott ultimately finished the day with 21 points and seven rebounds on 6-of-10 shooting coming off the bench. She was only outdone by Bridget Carleton, who continued her strong start to the season with 24 points and 11 rebounds.

As a whole, Iowa State shot 49 percent in what was its second-highest scoring output of the season. Also with strong games for Iowa State were Alexa Middleton, who had a season-high 15 points to go with eight assists and four rebounds. Ashley Joens added 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting.

Up next for Iowa State will be another key non-conference game, as the Cyclones take on Iowa in Iowa City as part of the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk series
