Motorcycle accident causes minor injuries

An Iowa State student on his motorcycle struck a car that had made a left turn in front of him Monday morning.
Scot Hoffman, 25, 2615 Melrose Ave., was transported to Mary Greely Medical Center just after 8 a.m. for possible injury. He was later released with scrapes and cuts, said Rob Bowers, a captain with the ISU Department of Public Safety.
The accident occurred in the intersection of 13th Street and Stange Road. Hoffman, a junior in Liberal Arts and Sciences, was traveling southbound on Stange Road when he struck a northbound car driven by Kari Hibma, 19, 271 Barton Hall. Hibma, a sophomore in elementary education. was making a left turn onto 13th Street, Bowers said.
Damage was estimated at $350 to Hibma’s car and $800 to Hoffman’s motorcycle, Bowers said.
He said Hibma was given a citation for failure to yield.
