Accident injures student

An Iowa State student suffered a broken leg as a result of a motorcycle accident Sunday night.

Per C. Bunaes, 22, a junior in mechanical engineering, was traveling north bound when his 1983 Yamaha motorcycle struck a car making a left-hand turn in the intersection of Hyland Ave and Lincoln Way.

“The car failed to yield, and I had no time to stop,” Bunaes said.

According to police reports, the driver of the car, Jacob T. Hiett, 17, said he failed to see the vehicle approaching when he turned, causing the motorcycle to hit his 1973 GRT Ford.

Bunaes was transported by ambulance to Mary Greeley Medical Center and treated for a broken bone below his knee.
