Cyclone Supersaver Cards receive a facelift

Cyclone Supersaver Cards have received a slight facelift for the upcoming athletic season.

The new cards will be more convenient for families and large groups attending Iowa State athletic events, said Pam Fultz of the ISU Athletic Ticket Office.

The twenty dollar punchcard contains ten punches. As an added bonus this year, those punches may be used by more than one person at the same athletic event — in contrast to last year when only one punch could be used during a single event.

The cards were created about five years ago in order to increase the attendance at some of the non-revenue sports at ISU and to encourage people to attend more than one sport. The change in format should show a “noticeable increase” in attendance at those athletic events, Fultz said.

The cards can be used at all home women’s basketball games, volleyball games, gymnastics and wrestling meets. Tournaments and the Iowa wrestling match are excluded.

Volleyball Coach Jackie Nunez said she is excited about the effect the new card will have on fan support.

“I hope more people will get excited about our program and come out and watch us play,” Nunez said.

Apparently the athletes feel the same way. Junior gymnast Katie Mazza said, “I think being one of the sports included will generate more fan support which will enable us to increase our intensity.”

Sophomore wrestler Mike Adams said fan support at home meets is absolutely essential to the performance of the team.

“Team Captain Jason Nurre refuses to perform at his peak unless there is adequate fan support,” Adams said. “Hopefully this new card will ensure his success.”

Fultz said this year the rule is one punch per person per event. Anyone wanting to purchase this new card can do so at the ISU Athletic Ticket Office in the Olsen Building. More information can be obtained by calling the ticket office at 294-1816.
