Members of the Story County Drug Task force seized an undisclosed quantity of methamphetamine and marijuana from an Ames residence early Tuesday morning, police officials said.

Police officers entered the home of Thomas Canfield, 33, and Robin Scarcello, 36, 3308 S. Duff Ave., with a search warrant. A quantity of methamphetamine, marijuana, cutting agents, packaging material and a weight scale were seized.

The Ames Police Department has seen increasing levels of drug arrests in Ames, said Shawn Phipps, a public relations officer.

Canfield was arrested on charge of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, a Class C felony, and prohibited acts, an aggravated misdemeanor.

His bond was set at $14,450. Scarcello was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana, a serious misdemeanor.

His bond was set at $650. Both suspects will be transported to the Story County Jail.

The arrests were the result of an ongoing investigation conducted by the members of the Drug Task Force, made up of the Ames Police Department, the Iowa State Department of Public Safety and the Nevada Police Department.

“More arrests are anticipated,” Phipps said. “Arrests lead to other arrests as information is gathered and intelligence data obtained.”
