To the Editor:

Texas politics were alive and well in Ames this weekend!

Senator Gramm showed up at the Delta Upsilon fraternity Friday night to persuade the college students to vote for him in the straw poll (with a little extra persuasive help from the free food, free beer and free band).

Young voters should stand up and take notice to the fact that America needs a president we can trust to lead our nation in the right direction, not a president who is willing to use his deep pockets to buy support.

Character matters.
