KUSR hires station manager
August 24, 1995
KUSR, Iowa State’s campus radio station found at 91.5 on the FM dial, has a new program director.
Sly Doyle, a senior in community regional planning, replaced John Baldwin, last year’s director.
“I’m in charge of hiring and terminating DJs,” Doyle said, “I can decide what shows are on the air, and I train DJs.”
Doyle will also hire an assistant who will have some training duties as well.
As program director, Doyle wants the station to have more power and to be more intense.
“I’d like the whole campus to know who we are,” Doyle said.
Besides program director duties, Doyle also has a show on Monday nights that airs from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
The show, called Sly’s Monday Medicine, is a night-tracks show that features rock music, but Doyle said he plays almost everything except country and classical music.
“I’d like to be different and get a little spice in my show,” Doyle said.
KUSR tries to cover everyone’s interests, Doyle said.
