Another Thumbs Up!

J. S. Leonard

With a paradoxical Temperance Street sign over the bar, Thumbs can best be described as a fun place to socialize over a few cold ones.

Located at 2816 West St., Thumbs is not particularly spacious, but maximizing on limited surface area, the bar provides a cozy atmosphere with a core of friendly “regulars” always ready to talk to newcomers.

A dart board and pool table provide ample opportunity to test coordination skills while engaging in friendly competition with friends.

Thumbs has a large selection of CDs from which patrons can request their favorite songs. For those who want to bring your own CDs, they will be more than happy to play them (be sure to put your name on them).

Bands play at Thumbs every other Friday. On off weeks, the bar hosts an open-mic night where local musicians of any skill level and musical genre can gather to “jam.”

Due to the improvisational nature of the open-mic nights, one never knows what will happen. Friday night shows will include . . . call 292-5295.
