Ingersoll relives and revives the 60s

Remember the great nostalgia of Tina Turner, Janis Joplin and Diana Ross? Well, they’re back — live on stage at the Ingersoll Dinner Theater in Des Moines! The hit musical Beehive brings the 1960s back to Iowa with a healthy dose of rock ‘n roll, bell bottoms and love stories.

Six local actresses are taking charge in this production, which is a tribute to the famous female vocalists of the sixties. Backed up by an eight-piece band, the vibrance of Beehive is phenomenal. Former guitarist for Dominick and the Dominoes, Bill Youngquist, is just one member of the national and local talent that adds to the band’s energy.

Feel-good music isn’t the only attraction of the show, director Patricia Choate, explained. “It really is an amazing cast we have lined up; these women have some of the best voices I’ve heard,” she said. The six actresses portray some of the top female musicians of the 60s.

Shows run Wednesdays through Sundays until July 23. Tickets are $25 Wednesday through Friday and Sunday, and $29.50 on Saturdays. The price includes dinner, and desserts and beverages will be available. Dinner will be served from 6 to 7:30 p.m., with the show beginning at 8 p.m. For matinees, dinner is served from noon till 1 p.m., with the show at 1:30 p.m.
