Geoff Turner became the fifth player disciplined by head football coach Dan McCarney.
On June 20, McCarney announced that wide receiver Turner, a redshirt sophomore from Urbandale, had been given a one-year suspension from the team for a violation of NCAA and ISU team rules.
“Geoff was found in violation of NCAA eligibility rules and has been declared ineligible,” McCarney said in a press release.
Turner will be able to practice with the Cyclones throughout the 1995 season but will not be able to play in any games.
Turner had 21 receptions for 236 yards last season as a split end/ wing back. He played in 11 games and gained 546 yards on 28 attempts as a kick-off returner. His average of 19.5 yards a kick was the third best in the Big Eight and ranks fourth-best in school history.
McCarney said he would have no further comment on this matter.
