Cyclone hockey camps set to start next week

The Iowa State hockey team has had its share of success in the past few years and head coach Al Murdoch is sharing his secrets to success at the Al Murdoch Summer Hockey School, “Where winning is a way of life.”

The school will be from July 23 to 29 and July 30 until August 5, with a special one-hour Goalies Only session each day.

Murdoch has employed the likes of two coaches from Sweden to help him this summer. Markuss Olsson and Jorgen Forsberg will make the trek to Ames from Solleftea, Sweden.

Olsson has been head coach of the Swedish State Teams for five years and Forsberg has coached for one year at the national junior level.

“It’s exciting to have two coaches of this quality joining the Summer Hockey School staff,” Murdoch said in a press release. “It’s rare that a camp gets two international coaches with such great experience and credentials.”

The coaches will appear at both camps.

Along with having these outstanding coaches help at the camps, Murdoch enlisted Bryan Schoen, a goalie in the San Jose Sharks organization, to provide daily goalie sessions to the athletes.

“Schoen has had an excellent background and success in hockey,” Murdoch said. “He’s a great addition to our staff.”
